Expansive film on bituminous coal industry, showing coal as heat and power source, coke in steel manufacture, by-products of coal such as explosives and Nylon, and origin, mining, processing and distribution of coal. Shows railroad coal handling facilities, ending with ships at coal terminal at Lambert Point, near Norfolk, Va. NOTE: Austin was located in Roanoke, Va. Said to contain first color moving images ever shot inside a coal mine.
