2010Since we showed 2001 – A Space Odyssey in the year 2001, of course, we have to show the follow up film in 2010. This sequel answers some of the questions left by the first film when a  joint American-Soviet space expedition is sent to Jupiter to learn what happened to the Discovery. Stars Roy Scheider, John Lithgow and Helen Mirren. Show up early to get a good seat and see a short from the A/V Geeks collection. Admission is FREE.

doctor_cameraA MEDICAL FILM CABINET OF CURIOSITIES is co-programmed by film collector/curators Jay Schwartz of the Secret Cinema and Skip Elsheimer of North Carolina’s A/V Geeks, who will be present at the screening. This screening is the closing night of the Philadelphia Medical Film Symposium. This will be the A/V Geeks ’s first return visit since he presented his popular program S IS FOR SISSY! at Moore, just over one year ago. Films include FEET AND POSTURE (1920s), CELL WARS (1987), CRYOEXTRACTION (195?), COLDS AND FLU (1975)  ACHIEVING SEXUAL MATURITY (1973), NON-SYPHILITIC VENEREAL DISEASE (195?), JUST AWFUL (1972) and more! Admission $7 (free for symposium attendees)
